YYGS-Beijing accepts applications from residents or citizens of any country who fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • Be between the ages of 15 and 17 at the time of application
  • Must be a high school sophomore (US: Grade 10, China: 高一) or junior (US: Grade 11, China:  高二) at the time of the program
  • Demonstrate strong personal and/or academic interest in China-World relations
  • Speak, read, and write at a level of English adequate to participate in interactions and discussions

Applicants to the program must have at least one full year of high school to complete after they attend the program, and YYGS does not accept applications from students who are under 15 years old or over 17 years old. The program also does not accept applications from students who are current high school freshmen and seniors (US grades 9 and 12), high school graduates, or college/university undergraduate students.

All students MUST have a strong command of the English language in order to keep up with the fast-paced environment of the YYGS-Beijing Program. If you are not a native English speaker and do not currently attend school in a country where English is the first language, YYGS strongly recommends that you take at least one test for non-native English speakers. Examples of such tests include TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or PTE (Pearson Test of English).
